Pippin Barr is a videogame maker and critic who works and teaches in the Department of Design and Computation Arts at Concordia University in Montreal. He is also part of Technoculture, Art and Games (TAG), an interdisciplinary centre for research/creation in game studies and design, digital culture and interactive art. He started designing games in 2011 with the Beckettian GuruQuest. His games, all of which are accessible online, address everything from airplane safety instructions to contemporary art to philosophy, and his diverse collaborations include projects with performance artist Marina Abramovic and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH). Barr has a Ph.D. in Computer Science from Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand in videogame and Human-Computer Interface (HCI), and has taught game design at institutions including the IT University of Copenhagen and the University of Malta.
